CDE has teamed up with local businessman Jason McKenna to support his new venture, Flowtech International.
Jason McKenna, a mechanical engineer from Belfast founded Flowtech International Ltd in 2019, after previously working in the Engineering industry as a design engineer for 10 years.
“I spotted a gap in the market for a non-pressurised abrasive blasting system which could eliminate the requirement for manufacturing regulatory procedures while also making the equipment safer and more user-friendly. I began the R&D process in 2018 and developed the product over a 2-year period, with manufacturing and testing support from CDE.”
Flowtech International began as a spin-out after previous experience working within the abrasive blasting manufacturing industry.
“It was here that the idea was recognised, I saw an opportunity to reduce costs for both the manufacturer and user by developing a non-pressurized system, and with that Flowtech International was founded.” Jason explained.
Flowtech International’s USP is that its blasting system (Model-B2) does not utilise a pressure vessel to contain abrasive media. Global patent-pending, the Model-B2 product cleverly utilises an airlock valve to transfer abrasive media from a non-pressurised hopper, with abrasive media stored at atmospheric pressure, into a pressurised airflow – effectively acting as an airlock media transfer valve.
Tony Convery, Chairman, CDE said, “It’s a terrific product, a true innovation. Jason’s business attitude and drive to create better is impressive. I’m proud that CDE has played a key role in supporting a fantastic local business. I’m excited to see what the future holds for Flowtech.”
Flowtech International exports its range of blasting equipment, spares, and accessories across the globe. From oil and gas applications, to contract cleaning to renewable energy, Flowtech systems are currently operating in 18 countries globally.
