Tony Convery - Chairman & Founder

Tony Convery - Founder and Chairman - CDE

Tony is a Chartered Engineer and a Fellow of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers. He founded CDE along with his wife in 1992 having previously worked in the materials processing sector for a number of years. His work took him across Europe and America where he worked on major sand & aggregates and water treatment projects.

Tony's innovative engineering designs were already recognized by the industry and in 1993 he was presented with the Environment Award from the Engineering Council in the UK for a concrete reclamation system. The design was featured on the British television programme, Tomorrow's World.

Having now established a considerable Research & Development department within CDE, Tony continues to be a lead contributor in all new product developments. As the company continues to grow, Tony travels extensively identifying new opportunities for CDE and plays an integral role in the development of the business across its 5 sectors on a global basis. 

He is a senior figure within the aggregate processing industry and well respected for his world-class designs and solutions. Tony, together with the CDE Design Team designed the world’s largest sand washing system which was commissioned in 2008.

Brendan McGurgan - Group Managing Director

As Group Managing Director, Brendan leads strategic growth plans in global markets, championing an ethos of talent development, innovation, and entrepreneurial spirit. Named “Young Director of the Year” and “Overall Director of the Year” at the prestigious UK Institute of Directors Awards in 2016, Brendan has orchestrated the diversification of the business through construction led recession. Over the past six years he has seen revenues quintuple, and now has his sights firmly set on significant expansion in pursuit of an ambitious 2020 Vision.”

Brendan joined CDE in October 2003 as Financial Controller and was appointed to the Board of Directors in March 2004. He was appointed Managing Director of the company in May 2007 and is a qualified Chartered Accountant. Brendan achieved Chartered Director status from the IoD in 2013. Brendan holds a First Class Honors degree in Accounting from University of Ulster and completed his Final Admitting Exams in 1998 whilst training with PricewaterhouseCoopers (PWC). He was admitted to the Institute of Chartered Accountants in March 2000.

Prior to joining CDE Brendan was Group Financial Controller of Amacis Limited (now part of Primus Inc.) a software startup company. Within Amacis Brendan gained considerable exposure to the commercial workings of a successful company right from startup. This included raising finance through Venture Capitalists to the mechanics of setting up and conducting business in America and Asia Pacific. 

Enda Ivanoff - Group Business Development Director

Enda Ivanoff - Group Business Development Director - CDE

Enda is the original “apprentice” of CDE and the first graduate recruited by Tony into the business in 1997. With an Honors degree in Civil Engineering, a Chartered Mechanical Engineer and a Fellow of the Institute of Mechanical Engineers, Enda designed and commissioned the very first sand washing system to be used in the Aggregates sector for the company. He is also a past winner of the prestigious Junior Engineer of Ireland Award.

Enda has been involved in most of the major product developments throughout the years; the M2500 and the Aggmax to name a few, and pioneered many of the early applications, which today have a strong and specific sectoral focus in the business. He remains deeply engaged and passionate on the product development side, whilst building and supporting the business development teams across the world in each of the eight strategic locations.

Enda has built an excellent reputation in the industry and has developed enviable knowledge and contacts in the sand and quarrying industries. Initially working on new designs and projects under the stewardship of Tony Convery, Enda has grown with the Company to develop a sales team that will provide sustainable growth for CDE to provide industry-leading solutions.

As well as leading the sales effort, Enda continues to be passionately involved in the company’s Product Development and is well recognized as a specialist in the field of sand washing and recycling systems.

Terry Ashby - Regional Director

Terry Ashby - Regional Director - CDE

Appointed to the Board of Directors in December 2010, Terry has over 30 years experience in the quarrying and construction materials sector both in the UK and Ireland and in many global markets including North America, Australia, and the Middle East. Terry has been a member of the CDE team since the late 1990's and has been instrumental in the development of business in the GB market in particular. Terry's contribution to the development of major strategic export markets has been considerable during this time as CDE Global has built a worldwide network (of Regional and Sectorial managers) for our range of washing equipment for quarrying, mining, recycling, and ore processing applications.

Colin Trainor - Finance Director

Colin Trainor - Finance Director - CDE

Colin is a Chartered Accountant who qualified with Ernst & Young in 2002. He joined CDE Global in 2008 following several senior finance positions in the manufacturing and distribution sectors. Colin has responsibility for the financial and administrative functions within CDE, as well as looking after the commercial aspects of the company’s dealings with both customers and suppliers. With his contacts within, and knowledge of the banking and finance industries, Colin is instrumental in assisting customers to raise finance to enable them to take ownership of CDE equipment in the most efficient way possible. 

Appointed Group Finance Director in 2011, Colin has extensive experience in all aspects of financial, treasury and commercial management. Integral in the navigation of new business markets, including facilitating the company’s desire to be “local” across each of its strategic regions, Colin specializes in export and international trade requirements. 

Eoin Heron - Business Development Director

Eoin Heron - Business Development Director - CDE

A Charted Mechanical Engineer, Eoin’s origins in CDE began in 2003, installing and commissioning complex projects which subsequently led to the position of Global Technical Manager, and later onto Business Development functions. Eoin has spearheaded the business growth in Europe over the past ten years and now focuses on the North American market, developing our business with a focus as Head of Sector Development for Industrial Sands (CDE Solv) and Construction & Demolition Waste Recycling (CDE Reco).

Sean Kerr - Chief Operating Officer

Sean Kerr - Engineering Director - CDE

Sean first joined CDE in June 2000 as a Graduate Mechanical Engineer. He has acted as lead engineer on 100’s of projects and leads a team of over 100 engineers developing world-class industry leading projects across our regions and sectors. These are projects that hold the title of world’s largest, world’s most advanced and often including new/innovative products which influence and change the direction of the industry, something he and the team are very proud of.

Sean has built a strong reputation at a local and global level, advising our customers on the most effective solution for their application, working closely with various European research bodies and sitting on the board of a US association. Sean was appointed as Chief Operating Officer of CDE Global Ltd in 2019.

Claire Colvin - Talent & Organisational Development Director

Claire Colvin - Talent & Organisational Development Director - CDE

Appointed to the Board of Directors in 2017, Claire leads the global talent function of The CDE Group which involves delivering against the company’s global resourcing strategy, learning & organizational growth, performance improvement, engagement, and reward.

A CIPD member, qualified with an MA in Human Resource Management, Claire brings over 20 years’ experience, where she led HR in one of Northern Ireland’s most successful, indigenous and fastest growing Technology businesses. She has since established a fully integrated, robust and results focused talent function fully aligned to the group’s 2020 Vision and focused on maximizing the strength of the team.
